Thanks so much for stopping by our website. Unfortunately, as of November 1st we have shut down for the season and we’ve tucked our boats in for a long winter’s nap. But rest-assured, our 2017 paddling season will begin when we re-open on May 1st (as indicated on our “Countdown to Paddling” clock on the right -> -> ->) and we are very much looking forward to our 5th season of padding on the area’s lakes and rivers. In the mean time, please feel free take a few minutes to look around and see what we have to offer because GR Paddling is not a typical kayak/canoe rental livery.
Please note that we don’t operate like a livery and we don’t just “rent” kayaks and canoes. We provide kayak & canoe experiences (sorry, no tubes or paddleboards) that begin when we go to you. We pick you up from your location (ie: home or hotel) when you request to be picked up and we have 37 different trip options to pick from. You can see all of what we offer here: Experiences
If you’d like to see what some of our previous customers have to say about GR Paddling you can check out their generous 5-Star reviews at TripAdvisor and, if possible, please “LIKE” and follow us on Facebook.
Life’s just too short not to paddle. ~ Carpé Aqua ~
Please take note of the following:
- Children under the age of 12 years old ~ The minimum age that we can accommodate for any of our trips is 12 (twelve) years old. We are not equipped for, nor are we insured for, children under 12 years. We are very sorry, but we just don’t have a loophole for this and unfortunately there are no options. We are not permitted in accordance with our insurance to put children under the age of twelve in our watercraft (even with an adult). If you are looking for a venue to paddle with children you may want to consider Millennium Park where they rent various types of watercraft to enjoy in the park. Another option might be to check out GRKids.com where you can find all kinds of activities for younger children to enjoy.
- Groups that are larger than 8 people ~ The maximum group size that we can accommodate (for all but our Paddle & Art trip) is 8 (eight) paddlers. This is by design. We strive to offer quality experiences for our customers and limiting our group sizes to eight helps to achieve that goal.
- Alcoholic beverages ~ Unfortunately, alcoholic beverages (including beer & wine) are not allowed on our trips. So, please do not plan to bring alcoholic beverages of any kind on your trip. This is mandatory in order to comply with our insurance requirements and our operating permit with the DNR (two important factors that we simply cannot and will not jeopardize). Besides, alcoholic beverages are also not permitted at many of our launch sites anyways.
GR Paddling offers customized, safe, and full service kayak & canoe experiences on twenty-one reaches (a total of over 140 miles to pick from) of our five local rivers and on five local lakes. Whether you are looking for a team building opportunity or social event, a beginner looking for a short safe escape or an experienced paddler looking for a full day outing (ie: our Paddle & Art option for larger groups up to 16 paddlers, one of our four Paddle & Dine trips, or one of our three Paddle & Picnic trips), we have the trip for you that promises to help you enjoy the best of what West Michigan has to offer.
Since May 2013, we have been located right here in Grand Rapids so we know the area and the very waters on which you will be paddling. We provide all of the essentials for you: boats, paddles, life preservers, transportation, snacks, mosquito repellent, instruction (if required) and binoculars (if desired). And we also provide round trip & comfortable transportation, both pick-up and drop-off from your Grand Rapids area location to and from the river or lake! We pick you up! How cool is that? All you and your friends or family gotta do is paddle and enjoy the experience.
